Welcome to the Intercultural Institute of California International Program! We hope you will find the site helpful in determining and pursuing your academic studies at IIC. The Office of International Student Services offers services to students on the admission process, issuance of I-20, and in obtaining and maintaining their non-immigrant visa status.We are here to assist and support the continuing, new, and prospective students with any inquiries they may have.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Admission requirements for graduate international students are the same with that of non-international students with the exception of proof of financial resources for the duration of their academic studies.
General Requirements for Graduate Program Applicants:

3. $65.00 APPLICATION FEE (non-refundable) and a $70.00 REGISTRATION FEE: Payment must be in U.S. dollars: MC/VISA or by check drawn on an American bank or in the form of an international money order payable to ¡°IIC".
4. PERSONAL STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: the statement should discuss: reason for applying to the IIC, M.A. Korean Studies program, work experience, education, background, and other pertinent information including student's career goals and plans following completion of the M.A. degree.
5. TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION from university professors or recent employers. If not in English, the letters of recommendation must be accompanied by an English translation. Letters should be on letterhead and submitted in sealed envelopes signed by the recommender. The letters may be mailed directly to IIC.
6 ORIGINAL TRANSCRIPTS from all colleges and universities attended. The transcripts should show
student's grades, approximate class rank and any degree received. If not in English, the transcript must be accompanied by an English translation. The transcripts may be sent directly to IIC.7. OFFICIAL TOEFL examination score report (Test of English as a Foreign Language), unless student's native language is English or has received a Bachelor from an accredited university. Requirement for TOEFL examination with a score of minimum 550 must be met before the graduation of the program.

REQUIREMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS (Graduate & Vocational
Program)
EVIDENCE OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT:
1. Complete the Certificate of Funding Form
2. Several means to show proof of financial means
- Self sponsor: provide an original letter on the financial institution's letterhead, signed and dated by the appropriate officer.
- US sponsors: complete Certificate of Sponsorship from the sponsor. Original letter on the financial institution's letterhead signed and dated by the institution's officer, confirming the sponsor's financial status.
- International sponsor: certificate of sponsorship accompanied by the financial proof-certificate of deposit confirming the sponsor's financial status.
Note: The date on the financial proof must be no more than 3 months prior to the program date. Proof of financial support do not necessarily have to be from one source. Several sources may add up to the total amount necessary for the duration of academic studies.

*Proof of financial means must show sufficient funds to cover the student's full educational costs.
*International Students do not qualify for financial aid.
TRANSFER PROCEDURE:
Students who wish to transfer from one institution to another must notify the current institution by completing a Transfer Eligibility form obtained from the new institution. Students must show proof of financial resources for the duration of academic studies. Refer to Additional Requirements for International Students.
REGISTATION PROCEDURE:
- International students must show proof of health insurance.
- Pick up or download the course registration form. It is to be completed each semester (Graduate program, Korean language) or quarter (ESL and IT).
- Review the class schedule and register for the classes for the pertaining semester/quarter. Class schedule may be found at www.iic.edu (web address) or you can obtain one at the registrar's office.
- Submit the course registration form with the tuition payment. A receipt for the payment will be issued.
- On-line students will be register to appropriate classes and will be emailed a user name and a password which they can change if desired.
¡à Registration Deadline - Registration period begins 2 weeks prior and ends 2 weeks after the 1st day of instruction.
¡à Transcript Request – Students may request copy of transcript at any time. The first copy is provided free of charge.
TRANSCRIPT FEES:
$10.00 per copy for 5-7 days processing, $5.00 additional copy
$15.00 per copy for 48 hours rush order
The completed form may be faxed or mailed with the payment to registrar's office.?
¡à Add/Drop – Students who are adding/dropping courses must complete Add/Drop form. Courses may be added/dropped up to the 3rd week of the semester without any penalty. Deadline to Add/Drop is 6th week with prorated tuition refund.
¡à Withdrawal from courses – After the 6th week, students must complete a Withdrawal from Courses Form and will be assessed $20.
¡à Official Withdrawal from IIC – Students must file a ¡®Withdrawal from IIC' in order for the withdrawal to be official.
¡à Graduation Clearance – Students must be approved by the Program Director prior to applying for the Graduation Application.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS:
International students are obligated to comply with the immigration laws and regulations set by the United States. The law provides severe penalties for non-compliance, fraud or misrepresentation of facts and documents which can lead to expulsion and deportation.
- Students must maintain a valid passport at all times.
- Students must attend the school that the INS authorized to attend.
- Students must maintain a full-time course of study while in the program. Students may be allowed to maintain below full-time course of study under limited circumstances but only with prior authorization of International Student Advisor.
- Students must report any changes of address or changes in name within 10 days directly to IIC, International Student Office. This includes changes to student's dependents as well. SEVIS will be notified of the changes when IIC reports them.
- Students must notify the International Student Advisor of the travel plans outside of United States at least 2 weeks prior to departure date. The reason is that the International Student Advisor may need to sign the I-20 or issue another I-20 if necessary.
- Students who are changing program level must obtain a new I-20 before commencing the new program or one degree level to another degree level ( i.e. BA to MA or one major to another major or one college to another college). Students must receive written authorization from International Student Advisor in advance.
- Students must complete a transfer eligibility form when transferring to another institution. Current institution must be informed of students' intent to transfer whereby the students' records will be transferred to the new institution. The new institution will then issue a new I-20 and students are to report to the new institution within 15 days of the program date.
- Students are permitted to work on-campus for 20 hours a week and 40 hours a week during the summer. Student may work off-campus only with prior authorization from INS and/or International Student Advisor.
- Students must inform the International Student Advisor when they leave the institution early or unexpectedly before the program end date.
